Rei Kawakubo CD of COMMES des GARCONS
My infatuation of conceptual designers that set trends via their artistic integrity rather than worrying what celebrity will wear the looks on the red carpet starts and ends with Rei Kawakubo of COMMES des GARCONS. For over 15 years she has remained the queen of invention outside the cliche of RTW.
Her S/S13 collection was a collison of disected victorian sleeves and bodices meets the recyled twisted crushed sculptural silouettes. Sublime!!! Love the Marshmellow soled platforms and the black version.
I see Sam Taylor Wood making a random appearance in one of these runway looks, Tilda Swinton is my 2nd prediction, all others? Ummmm? Stick with Mugler please.
The crowns created by artist: Graham Hudson will start a new trend for editorial head pieces in all the fashion publications that have been recycling Diana Vreeland inspired head sculptures. So editorial assistants start heading out to the car crushing zones and recycle the metal bits for your editor to get to work on those sculptures!!
