One of the most anticipated collaborations in history between a RTW designer and high street retailer has me pre occupied about how early I'll arrive at the pre-Sale in NYC. I've been a fan and collector of Maison Martin Margiela for over 10 years, I can put on any garment from a past collection and feel as though I have bragging rights and or a story attached to the garment.
Fact is Maison Martin Margiela is like collecting fine wine or art: it increases in value and cache. I've spent time reviewing and obsessing over the lookbook via blogs etc ; I noticed a number of silhouettes recycled from past collections; which is fine if you missed the $2000 jacket at the Barney's New York sale, same jacket is now dare I say $160. Their collaboration is a chance to try silhouettes that are usually too expensive to consider and hard to find for most; unless you live in one of the 10 cities that might stock both MM6 (diffusion line).
