Nicola Formichetti; Creative Director of Diesel presented his first collection for Diesel in Venice Italy of which he happens to be a native of Venice.
His signature heavy embellishment style worked perfectly with the acid inspired washes and the punk mixed with grunge theme for the collection. I like the ideas he presented that may possibly be considered by most as recylced, my theory is : if you can re-invent a trend that still appeals especially when referencing a specific genre of music why not? The casting, silhouettes and over all styling were ideal for the DNA of Diesel and for those who have follwed the brand over the last two decades and for those who will now be attracted to the re-branding.
“This collection illustrates my vision of Diesel in the future. We looked at the three core elements of the Diesel DNA: denim, leather and military. It was quite an instinctive approach and an honest one, in a unisex, equal way for things I like which are at the core of Diesel – a pair of jeans, a leather jacket, a military parka” – Nicola Formichetti.
