Project LEVEL is a Music and arts theme based program for 13-21 year olds in the San Francisco Bay area; inwhich they work with underprivileged 30 kids a week to learn every aspect of the entertainment industry and obtain skills to use in a future career path.
Created by local rapper: Richard "Big Rich" Bougere and his wife Danielle Banks. Big Rich is known for his "SF Anthem" which plays at every 49ers and Giants game. They used his name and contacts in the music industry with the goal to give hope and skill sets of the undeserved youth in SF. (most of the kids are in foster care, with one or both parents in jail). The kids are creating fashion lines, music, films, photoshoots and writing.
And operates as a Not for Profit status under the The African Amercian Cultural Center.
Each teen goes through four phases (Pre-Production, Production, Post Production, and Marketing) of the program to train them properly in their disciplines. During the first 5 weeks of the program, each participant undergoes an evaluation period to understand each discipline, prior to pursuing their specific programs: Music Production, Recording, Photography, Video Production, Graphic and Web Design, and Marketing/Journalism. Over the course of 24 weeks each participant will be taught hands-on the skills and experience needed to succeed in the profession learned.
Our Editorial Director: Laura Albert is an advocate and has an active presence at Project Level; both herself and I wanted to offer the students a project which would involve their photography, creative direction and make up skills. We created a mood board for the kids to be inspired by and and received sponsorship from: David Klasfeld founder of OCC cosmetics to use the Spring /Summer 2014 collection.
The participating students sent us images of themselves and their version of Summer 2014 face painting with OCC cosmetics. We thank Danielle, Richard and David for being part of an ongoing beauty and photography collaboration we are creating for the kids.
