The Silos building was constructed in 1950 in Milan, and now has been renovated into a 68,600 Square foot, 4 story museum. Or as Armani states; “I don’t want this space to be static; I plan to renew the displays with pieces from the new collections every six months,” and “Silos helps me take stock of things,”
Yesterday, Armani Celebrated his 40th year anniversary by showcasing 600 of his signature archive looks in the new Silos Museum.
Armani; “This job doesn’t allow you to dream much, you must have your feet planted on the ground. I will be 81 in July and dedicated almost all my time to work,”
His runway show and cocktail event last night not only celebrated 40 years of his talent, but coincided with the unveiling of the international Expo, of which Armani is special ambassador for fashion. The ministry of economic development is celebrating the designer’s anniversary with a special stamp bearing Armani’s sketch of the Silos and produced in a limited run of 800,000 pieces.
Armani has a loyal international following, some were able to attend his celebration : Tina Turner, Glenn Close, Tom Cruise, Chris Pine , Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, and Sophia Loren.
